Doing so is expensive, but is essential if the academy is to retain its status as a maritime leader.
A world-class simulation program is an essential resource in today’s maritime education. In 2008, we opened our Simulation Training Facility which, with periodic updates, continues to be one of the most advanced in the world.
Our capabilities include everything from bridge simulation to crisis management, liquid and gas cargo to oil spill simulation and environmental safety. Within this environment, both cadets and seasoned

The existence of a cutting-edge simulation program on campus is an asset, providing both cadets and continuing education users with opportunities to test and re ne new ideas. It also provides potential revenue streams to offset future upgrade and replacement costs. Staying up to date with industry-standard technology is critical to our success in preparing cadets for the industry careers that await their graduation.

STATE-OF- THE-ART
SIMULATION FACILITIES
ENHANCE TRAINING.
Cal Maritime boasts the best waterfront facilities for
small craft training and maritime simulation of all the US state and
federal maritime academies. Our small craft eet, while not of recent vintage, is superbly maintained and reliably provides our cadets with arguably the best practical boat handling training in the country. Our simulation facilities both ashore and onboard the Training Ship Golden Bear are state of the art and comprehensive, providing advanced, realistic simulation experiences for all of our deck and engine cadets.
