Relatos de transformación y esperanza
-“What...? -I need you to...” said Kate’s mother.
-“There's no time to explain. Promise me you'll take
care of them.
-but...
-Kate, please! -Promise me!” said Kate’s mother.
-“I... I promise you, mother” said Kate, worried
about what her mom was going to do.
It was Christmas Eve and it had been snowing all
day. Since Kate was the oldest of the siblings, they
had let her go to bed later, she sat with her parents
by the fire, while they were drinking hot chocolate,
they exchanged gifts (her younger siblings would
receive theirs in the morning); kate at her young
age, felt old. Her mother offered her father a small,
thick, old, worn-out book that seemed to please him
greatly, and he gave her a gold locket necklace. The
locket contained a tiny portrait of the children: Kate,
two-year-old Michael, and Emma when she was a
baby. Finally, she went to bed, lying in the dark,
warm and happy under the blankets, wondering
how she would sleep better. After a while, her
mother was already waking her up. Her mother left
them to look for a better future in a place, where
there were enough emeralds to get out of poverty.
After a lot of sacrifice and work inside the mountain
she was able to get the biggest emerald in the world
for which she was given a lot of money.
