Task: Car Stop Based on Mistake of Law
Heien v. North Carolina, 135 S.Ct. 530 (2014).
• Where an officer stops a vehicle as the result of a reasonable
mistake of the law, evidence seized during the course of the stop will
not be suppressed under the exclusionary rule.
• Reasonable suspicion can be based on a reasonable mistake of the
law.
