• Of the five main features on Research Day, the Research Poster Competition received the
highest approval rating. Department displays and interaction received the second top rating,
followed by the oral presentation by the guest speaker with the third highest rating.
• The overall event was well received. 88% of respondents thought the overall event was good
and 12% felt the overall event was excellent.
• 36% of the respondents thought the student oral presentations were fair and this highlights
an opportunity to work more closely to develop the research oral presentation skills of
students.
General Observations
Strengths
• Enthusiasm and support of some faculty members across departments
• Enthusiasm and resolve of department heads
• Enthusiasm of some full-time students, especially in the Pure and Applied Science
Department
• Duplicable execution of event procedures established and recorded which will facilitate
future improvements.
• Sensitization of college community about the shift towards research and development.
• Quality of the research ideas of the students under the supervision of faculty
• Research proposals are already being produced by associate and bachelor degree students
and can be readily showcased as either displays, research posters or oral presentations
