it tried to hide in its final seconds, and below, pigs brought into the
slaughterhouse are viciously kicked and beaten, with heavy iron gates
rammed into them, smashing them against a wall before being finally put
out of their misery.

Just like our investigation at the Red Lion Horse
Slaughterhouse in 2013, our footage at Bagshaws shows just
how little anyone is checking on the welfare of animals at
slaughter. Despite the FSA claiming ‘operational staff monitor
the slaughter process to ensure that welfare at slaughter is
maintained to the highest standards.‘ in hundreds of hours of
footage, recorded over several weeks, of animals being
slaughtered, we barely saw anyone except the slaughterman,
who was left to his own devices to treat animals appallingly.
As shocking as the dreadful treatment of animals at Bagshaws
is, the unpalatable truth is that the same thing is going on in
many slaughterhouses up and down the country with the
authorities taking no action.
