                   Earth’s Atmosphere

                   Our atmosphere is divided into five layers: see Fig.(1.4).

                       1) Troposphere is the first layer above the earth surface and contains

                   half of Earth’s atmosphere (Weather occurs in this layer).
                       2) Stratosphere is the second layer which is stable.

                       3) Meteors or rock fragments burn up in the mesosphere.

                       4) Thermosphere is a layer with auroras and space shuttle orbits in this
                   layer.

                       5) The upper limit of our atmosphere is called exosphere.
