World Bear Day celebration (March 23, 2022)

In the study area “Aatmavat Sarvabhuteshu” a project is implemented to
increase community understanding of sloth bears and improve opportunities
for coexistence (Mesaria et al, 2021). To do so, World Bear Day is celebrated in
the Ratanmahal WLS to educate locals about the bear residing in their locality.
20 volunteers from nearby cities participate and conduct a sloth bear
awareness drive in the villages around the sloth bear and educate the school
children. As a result of this awareness drive, we could reach more than 350
school children of different age groups and 45 teachers from six schools in the
six villages located in close proximity to the bear habitat.
