OUR WORK CONTINUES When Dominic’s orphanage first called LWB for help, he was over two months old but weighed just six pounds. We quickly moved him to our Starbridge Healing Home, where a cardiac echo showed he had complex heart issues, in- cluding Tetralogy of Fallot. Baby Do- minic’s cries were very weak when he arrived into our care, and our nannies went immediately to work to help him get strong enough for surgery. By October doctors felt he could undergo his first stage heart operation, and we all cele- brated when he came through the proce- dure safely. After spending one month in the hospital, he was discharged back to LWB care, where he now charms every- one who meets him. Dominic has such a gentle smile, and his favorite activity is to be carried in his nanny’s arms. This beau- tiful little boy will still need to undergo more surgery in the future, but recent medical check-ups show that his heart is working well. We are so grateful to our supporters who came together to help Dominic through quality nutrition, ad- vanced medical care, and of course the es- sential gift of love. Another beautiful life saved! 15 LWB 2013 ANNUAL REPORT
