FEATURED CHILDREN We continue to hold steady with 15 of our 18 beds filled. Sadly, we were not able to help several children who were evaluated for surgery at this time last month. The only major change in our roster is that Celeste is spending some time at Maria’s Big House of Hope, where Dr. Steve can keep a closer eye on her progress. Hopefully we will be able to welcome her back to Beijing soon. Jillian Some of my favorite photos this month were of little Jillian. She is making fantastic progress, and above you can see how proud she is to be able to support her own body weight (with the steadying hand of her nanny). Severely malnourished due to food allergies, Jillian has gained 4.6 kg (over 10 pounds!) since September. At that time she was 6 months old and weighed only 5.5 pounds. Jillian is on a special formula, she can also handle apple and banana, and rice cereal was recently added to her diet. Little by little, we hope to be able to introduce more foods to this sweet and happy girl. Patrick Love the mini-fist pump! “Go Team Patrick!”  You may remember hearing the story of how Patrick hitched a ride to the hospital with several of our volunteers...well now Patrick has a whole team of sponsors on his side as well, helping him to gain the weight needed for upcoming heart and anal atresia surgeries. Patrick has done well so far, and he is alert and active. He eats well; in fact Cindy tells us he will let his nanny know very clearly (with a loud howl) when he is due for his bottle. Apparently he has quite a temper for such a little guy, but we love that he is strong-willed. Bon appetite, Patrick!
