GOING...GOING...GONE! Laurie Another one of our tinier residents, Laurie had just finished a bottle and nearly drifted off to sleep by the time Cindy entered her room. As Cindy says, Laurie’s life pretty much consists of eating and sleeping for now. Actually, she is not super enthusiastic about eating, preferring to take only about 1.5 to 2 ounces per feed. Nasogastric tube feedings have been added to help increase her weight before surgery. We hope that Laurie will be ready for her heart surgery by late summer or early fall. The nursing staff is carefully watching her oxygen levels for any signs that we need to move forward sooner. Despite every sober photo we have seen so far, Laurie’s nannies say that she is an alert little lady who smiles easily at the sound of a friendly voice. Hopefully she will be lively enough to smile for Cindy’s camera next month. Back to the great outdoors, you can see that Jade Jade was taking her playground activities and package of cookies quite seriously. When Cindy approached Jade in the bouncy bed and asked if she would like to go for a swing, she gave a solemn nod. Cindy helped put on Jade’s shoes, and off they went to the swing set. Reportedly, Jade began to smile shyly after a bit, but Cindy didn’t get any photographic evidence. It’s hard to swing a toddler, keep up lively chatter and snap photos at the same time.  Thankfully we have last month’s happy smiles to share with you (below). Just use your imagination!
