LOUANNE WEGRZYNIAK
Staff Professional / Phoenix
Growing up in Tucson, Arizona, I have always been
conscious of human impact on our surrounding environment,
especially that on our water supplies. Living in the Sonoran
Desert shaped my passion for sustainability and my desire
to give back to my community and ensure the health of our
natural surroundings. Since graduating from Arizona State
University with my Masters’, my goal has been to continue
my career in water resources engineering in order to
address complex problems all over the globe, with a special
focus on local and desert regions such as southern Arizona.
A few favorite projects of mine from the past include (in
academia) an analysis and proposed reuse solution to the
Tijuana wastewater overflow pollution directly affecting San
Diego beaches, a design project focused on providing a
source for the revitalization of the Salt River in the Phoenix
Metropolitan Valley (in support of the Rio Reimagined
Project), and a data driven water quality impact analysis
on the Indian Bend Wash, a major drainage area within the
greater Phoenix metropolitan area and a reputable model
for low impact development solutions used in urban flood
control.
Obtaining my EIT certification has been my proudest
accomplishment to date, as well as receiving the Phoenix/
Scottsdale Groundwater Contamination Scholarship for
Environmental Science scholarship award while attending
my graduate studies.
