Cannabis businesses often have very
particular requirements with the
buildings and facilities they can operate
in. For instance, indoor growth
operations require a lot of physical
space that can handle special
ventilation and lighting systems that
you wouldn't find in other types of
industrial operations. But it can be a
real challenge to find pre-existing
buildings that can accommodate those
needs. That's why some real estate
agents now specialize in providing
service to cannabis entrepreneurs.
The current position in respect of new
entrants into the market as estate
agents is thus as follows:
Completion of a 12-month internship
under the mentorship of a full status
estate agent with no less than
4 years' experience
Completion of a NQF4 Further
Education and Training Certificate in
Real Estate with a Services SETA
(SSETA) accredited training provider
Completion of a Professional
Designation Examination (PDE),
conducted by the EAAB
