Spring Music Lesson 10
P. 1

Resources for Spring Music Lesson Ten Activity: Slowly, Slowly
1. Your child or children copy your actions as you slowly walk two fingers up your arm whilst reciting the first two lines. You tickle yourself by quickly running your fingers all around your face, arms, legs and tummy during the last two lines. Tickle your child/ren at the end. Repeat several times.
2. Repeat they rhyme and ask your child/ren to join in with the words too.
3. You and your child/ren 'stand up' so you are ready to move around the room as snails or mice. You show them what direction they will be walking in. You play the pulse on a hand drum (or clap the pulse if you don’t have one) and march with them to encourage them to move in time with the pulse. Everyone moves slowly as snails for the first two
lines and then quickly and lightly as mice for the last two lines.
Lyrics:
(slowly) Slowly, slowly very slowly, Creeps the garden snail.
Slowly, slowly, very slowly,
Up the garden rail.
(quickly) Faster, faster, so much faster, Runs the little mouse.
Faster, faster, so much faster,
'Round my little house.
Other Ideas!
