Let’s make a circle,
A circle a circle.
Let’s make a circle,
At insert child’s name’s birthday party.
Repeat until everyone is in a circle. Please use this song every time you need the children in a circle throughout the duration of the party.
4. WISHING SONG: ‘Starlight Starbright’ by Traditional
“Greg, Connor and Amaya turn into the superheroes Gekko, Catboy and Owlette when it’s night time. So to become like them you need an animal super power of your own! I have something in my sparkly magic bag that can help us!” Reveal magic wand. “Does anyone know what this is? And what does a magic wand do? Today I’m going to show you how we can use the magic wand to wish for our very own animal super powers. You can wish for super cat speed like Catboy, an owl glider like Owlette, super gecko muscles like Gekko, or any other animal super power you can think of! But first you need to learn the special wishing song and it goes like this.” Point your wand to different children to the pulse as you sing the song acapella.
All:
Starlight, starbright,
First star I see tonight.
Wish I may, wish I might, Have this wish I wish tonight.
You: Which power do you wish for? (to the birthday boy/girl the first time)
(you may need to give some suggestions e.g. being able to jump really high, climb walls, hide
using camouflage, have a Gekko-mobile or a Cat car etc.)
Child: I wish for owl eyes. (the child invents their own wish)
You (spoken): Now let’s all say “One, two, three, abracadabra!”
All (spoken): One, two three, abracadabra! (the children wave their imaginary wands)
Repeat several times as above, except for at the end of each verse when you ask the children to put their hand up if they would like to make a wish. You then sing “Which power do you wish for?” to a child that has their hand up. If you have more than ten children, you could try asking a few children at a time (at the end of each verse before saying “one, two, three abracadabra”) to speed up the activity. If you have more than 20 children you can ask everyone that hasn’t had a turn to shout their wish out at once at the end of the activity.
5. CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE ONE: ‘Spider-Man Theme’ performed by Michael Bublé Click on song name to open the video in YouTube.
“Does anyone know another superhero who has animal powers? That’s right, Spider-Man! Now I’m going to teach you the Spider-Man dance so you can learn to cast webs like Spider-Man.” Go through the tricky moves then play the track and perform the dance as in the video.
6. PARACHUTE ACTIVITY WITH TOY/S ON TOP: ‘Five Superheroes’ by Lucy Milan Davis “Let’s see who else is hiding in my sparkly magic bag.” Reveal the PJ Masks doll. “That’s right! It’s Owlette/Gekko/Catboy (depending on what you have been given)! We’re going to make him/her fly now using the parachute! We’re going to practice with the imaginary one and if everyone does a great job then I’ll get the real one out.”
Move the imaginary parachute from side to side to the pulse as you say the rhyme. Quickly lift the parachute high up into the air as you say “Whoosh!”
One superhero feeling strong and brave,
Looking around for somebody to save.
He/she heard a crash so he/she flew off in a flash! Three, Two, One. Whoosh!
Take out the real parachute, place the PJ Masks toy on top and repeat, flinging him/her
