Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles

3. Travel to Storyland

4. Introduce the theme
“Let’s take a look in the sparkly magic bag and see what clue there is for today’s story.” Take out the jellyfish mask. Ask the children the following questions.
a) “What is this animal called?”
b) “Where do jellyfish live?”
c) “What sound do they make?”
d) “Let’s all make a jellyfish sound and move our whole bodies like jellyfish!”
e) Ask a volunteer to suggest another animal that lives under water (e.g. clown fish,
octopus, shark, dolphin, eel, starfish, seahorse etc.). You act out being the suggested animal (using upper body) and the children copy you. Repeat using ideas from three more volunteers.

5. Action song or poem: ‘Jellyfish, Jellyfish’ written by Lucy Milan Davis Sing the song whilst seated. Perform a floating action with arms for the first verse.

There are other animals moving through the sea. What other animal can we be?
“Put your hand up if you can think of another animal that lives in the sea.” Listen to a chosen child’s suggestion (e.g. lobster). “And how do lobsters move?” Sing another verse using the child’s ideas. Make sure to move like the suggested animal as you sing. For lobster, for example, you could crawl your fingers around your body.
