Page 3 - Emma Wiggle One Hour
P. 3

Emma seems lonely. Let’s see who else I have hiding in my sparkly magic bag that can join her. Reveal a second toy. “Who’s this?” Add the second toy on top and repeat the song.
“Emma’s still lonely!” Reveal a third toy. “Who’s this?” Place the third toy on top and repeat the song. Repeat for up to ten toys.
Then place as many soft toys and finger puppets as you have on top (so there are up to about 20 all together) and repeat the song. Don’t worry if the toys fall off. They always do!

MUSICAL STATUES: ‘Do the Propeller’ performed by The Wiggles
a) Ask the children if they know the game Musical Statues. Tell them that they’re going to play a game a
little bit like Musical Statues and that if they can beat you to win, you will give them all a Haribo treat.
b) Explain that they are going to be members of The Wiggles and you are going to give them each a musical
egg shaker.
c) When the music plays they must march their musical egg shakers to the Wiggle House (demonstrate as
you tell them). When the music stops, the children must freeze and be really still and quiet (demonstrate freezing) so that Captain Feathersword can’t hear them and steal their musical egg shakers. “If everyone is really quiet and still when the music stops, you will all win a Haribo treat.”
d) “I am going to turn into Captain Feathersword every time the music stops.”
e) Give each child some musical treasure.
f) Play ‘Do the Propeller’ and the children march around the room and shake their musical treasures.
g) Pause the music and pretend to be Captain Feathersword (use your best ‘pirate’ voice). The children freeze.
You get grumpy because they’ve managed to escape you. “I’ll get you next time!” Try to be as silly as you
can to make the children laugh.
h) Repeat several times until you confess that The Wiggles have beaten you and delivered the musical egg
shakers to the Wiggle House. You cry and say “I want my mummy!”
i) Walk away and when you turn back you are no longer Captain Feathersword. Tell the children that you’ve
turned back into Your Name Sparkles, congratulate them and tell them you will give them their Haribo prize before you go home.

Everybody clap, (clap three times as in the track)
Everybody sing, “La, la, la, la, la.” (hands to side of your mouth as though shouting as you sing, “La, la, la, la, la.”) Bow to your partner, (do a big, grand bow)
And then you turn around, yippee! (spin one pointer finger in the air as you turn around)
Hands in the air, (put hands in air)
Rockabye your bear, (rock imaginary bear)
Bear’s now asleep, (head tilted and hands together to side of face as though sleeping)
Shh, shh, shh, (pointer finger to lips)
Bear’s now asleep, (head tilted and hands together to side of face as though sleeping)
Shh, shh, shh, (pointer finger to lips)
“Well done. Teddy is sleeping!” Put your teddy carefully back into the sparkly magic bag so he/she doesn’t wake up.
NB: Please note that a song track is used for this activity, unlike the action song in most other plans which are sung acapella.
9. PARACHUTE ACTIVITY WITH HIDING: ‘Emma is Hiding’ (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Someone is Hiding’)
“Emma loves to play Hide and Seek so let’s play Hide and seek with the parachute now!” The children sit around the imaginary parachute and move it from side to side to the pulse for the first two lines. For each, “Peek-a-boo!” the children quickly lift the imaginary parachute up high into the air and then down again on “I see you!” Repeat the song with the real parachute. Next choose two or three children (including the birthday child) pretend to be Emma and curl up and hide underneath the parachute. Repeat the song and for each, “Peek-a-boo!” you reveal the hidden children. Repeat until every child has had a turn. Once the game has been played a few times, encourage the children to sing the words with you. If you have a party assistant or if there is a willing parent nearby,
ACTION SONG OR POEM: ‘Rockabye Your Bear’ performed by The Wiggles
“Let’s take a look in my sparkly magic bag to see what we’re going to do next?” Reveal your big teddy. “What’s this? Emma loves her teddy bear (place the bear somewhere where he/she can ‘watch’ the entertainment). I’m going to teach you the special song that Emma sings to her teddy to help it go to sleep.” Sing the song through once acapella to demonstrate the actions. Then play the track and sing as you perform the actions. On the track the verse is sung through twice.
