Resources for Spring Lesson fOUR: eASTER Activity: ‘Hot Cross Buns’ (Fine Motor Skills)
Make imaginary Hot Cross Buns with your child! Pour all of the ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, yeast, butter, egg, milk, sultanas and cinnamon) into a big bowl. Stir the ingredients to the pulse using right pointer finger as you sing the first verse acapella once. Repeat using your left pointer finger.

Roll the dough into balls and place them on the baking tray. Sing the second verse as you draw crosses on the buns with your right pointer finger then sing the second verse again as you draw the crosses with your left pointer finger.
Draw the crosses,

Act out putting the buns in the oven and then taking them out when ready. Ask your child to choose which spread to put on the buns. Spread the chosen spread using your whole right hand (wiping it across the left hand with palm then back of hand to pulse) as you sing the third verse. Another volunteer chooses a spread and you repeat with the other hand.
Spread the butter/jam/honey...
Sing the fourth verse twice, taking a bite of your bun during each “gap in the song”
(crotchet rest).

One a penny, two a penny, Hot cross buns (bite). (Spoken) Mmm. Delicious!
Other Ideas!
You and your child can try making up new Easter themed verses and actions. E.g. Easter Eggs, Easter Eggs, yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy, Easter Eggs or Easter Bunny, Easter Bunny, hop, hop, hop, hop, Easter Bunny.
