6. Choreographed dance: ‘The Monkey Dance’ by The Wiggles
EDUCATIONAL aims
PD (MH)
To develop coordination and control through moving in a variety of ways including bending, ‘go go’ arms, swaying, tapping knees and clapping and to practise locomotor skills through jumping
PD (HSC) & PD (MH)
To encourage children to be active, and therefore improve fitness, through performing a high energy dance
CL (LA)
To follow the choreography instructed by the teacher
EAD (MM)
To dance in time with the music
EAD (BI)
To pretend to dance like monkeys, elephants and tigers

To observe the choreography shown by the teacher and recreate it with own body

To improve control through jumping

To improve coordination through dancing with ‘go go’ arms (one arm moves up as the other moves down)
Motor Skills
To improve numerous gross motor skills including bending, ‘go go’ arms, swaying, tapping knees and clapping and to practise locomotor skills through jumping

To dance in time with the music
Strength and Fitness
To improve cardiovascular fitness and leg strength through performing a dance with lots of jumping
7. Action song: ‘Down in the Jungle’ (traditional)
Down in the jungle where nobody goes,
There's a great big gorilla washing his clothes.
With a rub-a-dub here and a rub-a-dub there,
