 Resources for Summer Music Lesson Five Activity: ‘Walkin’ in the Rain’ (traditional)
Babies:
1. "It's time to go splashing in some puddles!" The adults hold their babies and walk around the room in a circle to the pulse, jumping on the word "Splash!"
2. As above only walk slowly like snails, then walk quickly like mice.
3. Lightly creep to pulse and use fairy (quieter) voices. March loudly and use giant (louder
Toddlers:
1. "It's time to go splashing in some puddles!" The children walk the pulse in a circle whilst singing. They stop on the word "jump", then jump and land on the word "splash".
2. As above only walk slowly like snails, then walk quickly like mice.
3. Lightly creep to pulse and use fairy (quieter) voices. March loudly and use giant (louder)
voices.
Pre-schoolers:
Same as for toddlers plus:
4. Walk the pulse and sing the song using 'thinking voices', only performing the "splash" out loud. You can begin to build this skill by mouthing the words without making any sound.
