1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles See term four lesson one. Make sure to use lots of energy!
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
2. Stretching and curling: Moody Cat See term four lesson one.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
3. Travel to Danceland: ‘Butterfly Waltz’ performed by Brian Crain
Hand each child a coloured scarf (butterfly wing). Travel to Danceland like butterflies as in term four lesson three, only this time the children are holding onto a scarf. If you have a small class, you can give the children two scarves each.
* Running time approx. 4 mins.
4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in term four lesson one
“Does anyone know which spooky day is coming up?” Talk with the children about some of the fun activities they can do on Halloween (e.g. trick or treating, dressing up in costumes, bobbing for apples etc.) Ask a volunteer to tell you what they would like to dress up as for Halloween. The group then mimes putting on the costume and ‘being’ the character. Repeat three or four times, with a different volunteer each time.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
5. Fine Motor Skills: ‘Pumpkin Pie’ written by Lucy Milan Davis
Click activity name to open YouTube video link.
Reveal pumpkin laminate. “At Halloween, I like to eat pumpkin pie.” Perform the rhyme, as shown in the video, at least three times.
Shall we eat a baby piece of pumpkin pie? No! Shall we eat a mummy piece of pumpkin pie? No! Shall we eat a daddy piece of pumpkin pie? Yes! Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
6. Choreographed Dance: ‘Monster Mash’ performed by Bobby Pickett Click activity name to open YouTube video link.
Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together using the choreography from the video.
* Running time approx. 5 mins.
