Music player, music speaker, magic sparkly bag, 4 x nursery rhyme laminates, parachute, egg shakers and magic sparkles
Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles See term three lesson one.
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
2. Stretching and curling: Elephants Spraying Water See term three lesson one.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
3. Travel to Danceland: ‘Pegleg Pete’ performed by Brandon Fiechter See term three lesson one.
* Running time approx. 4 mins.
4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in term three lesson one.
“Today’s lesson is going to be all about nursery rhymes.” Ask a few volunteers to name a nursery rhyme then say it all together with actions. If you don’t know any actions you can make some up. If you don’t know the nursery rhyme, ask the child if they’d like to stand up and perform it as a solo.

5. Fine motor skills: ‘This Little Piggy’ (traditional)

Reveal ‘This Little Piggy’ laminate and ask the children to guess the nursery rhyme. Perform the rhyme four times using the movements shown in the video (making sure to alternate hands each time). Encourage the children to find a friend to tickle at the end of the last line.
This little piggy went to market, This little piggy stayed home, This little piggy had roast beef, This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went “wee, wee, wee” all the way home!

6. Choreographed dance: ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’ performed by Children's Singalong Choir

Reveal the laminate and ask the children to guess the nursery rhyme. Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video.
