ask the children what it’s called. Tell the children that today you will use your body to make baby snowflakes (pinch fingers together to mime a tiny snowflake), medium snowflakes (curl into a ball) and giant snowflakes (stand up with arms and legs stretched out).

5. Fine motor skills: ‘Five Little Snowflakes’ written by unknown

Perform the rhyme (as shown in the video) three times, using your fingers to represent “dancing snowflakes”. Try pausing before the number names to see if the children can predict and say the numbers for you. On the last repeat, encourage the children to say all the words with you. Make sure to use your left hand for at least one of the repeats.
One little snowflake with nothing to do. Along came another,
And then there were two.
Two little snowflakes laughing with me. Along came another,
And then there were three.
Three little snowflakes looking for more. Along came another,
And then there were four.

Four little snowflakes dancing a jive. Along came another,
And then there were five.
Five little snowflakes having some fun. Out came the sunshine,
And then there were none!

6. Choreographed dance: ‘Four Seasons’ performed by Hi-5

“Who can tell me which other seasons there are? So how many seasons are there altogether? Now I’m going to teach you a dance about all four seasons.” Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video. Remember to make a snowflake shape at the end instead of a leaf shape.

7. Action song: ‘Snowflakes’ (tune of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle’, traditional) lyrics written by Intellidancing

Perform the song three times using the actions in the video.
Snowflakes, snowflakes all around, In the air and on the ground. Some are big and some are small, Roll them into a snowball.
When the sun comes out to play, Watch as they all melt away.

8. Working with Props: ‘The Four Seasons, Winter Movement Two’ by Vivaldi, performed by The Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra
a) Give each child a scarf to represent a snowflake. Play the track and the children follow you in a story dance. The children help their snowflakes to float around the room. They float up high, down low and in circles. They float slowly and then quickly as the wind picks up. A snow storm comes and they twirl around
