Click activity name to open YouTube video link.
Reveal the laminate and ask the children to guess the nursery rhyme. Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video.
*Running time approx. 5 mins.
7. Action song: ‘See Saw Margery Daw’ (traditional)
Reveal see saw laminate and ask the children to guess the nursery rhyme. “It’s time for us to make baby see saws, medium sized see saws and a giant see saw. First we’re going to make baby see saws.” The children stand up, hold their arms out straight to the sides and rock from side to side as you all sing the song. Repeat two or three times. “Now it’s time to make medium sized see saws.” The children get into pairs and perform the same action only this time they are holding hands (arms still out to the sides) and rocking side to side in time with each other as you all sing the song. Repeat two or three times. “Now it’s time for us to make a giant see saw!” The children sit around the parachute, holding onto its edges. They lift it up and down to the pulse as you all sing the song. Ask an adult to hold the other side of the parachute so all the children can hide underneath it at once as you sing the song and move it up and down to the pulse.
See Saw Margery Daw,
Johnny shall have a new master. He shall have but a penny a day, Because he can’t work any faster. * Running time approx. 3 mins.
8. Working with Props: ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’ performed by Justin Fletcher

Everyone mimes putting on soldier jackets, boots and hats. Give each child an egg shaker and they shake their shakers to the pulse as they march around the room, following you in a line. Walk on tippy toes and lift your shaker high into the air when they are ‘up’ and walk low to the ground when they are ‘down’. Occasionally call out “freeze!” and encourage everyone to march in the opposite direction. *Running time approx. 5 mins.
