 Tony Clark - Fire Safety Engineer - Biography Tony Clark has over 40 years’ experience of fire engineering.
During these 40 years he has amassed an extensive knowledge of Part B, Part K and Part M of the Building Regulations, and has been involved in innovative building design and fire survey work.
Tony takes a practical, proactive approach to provide safe buildings, not just buildings that meet the book standard. Tony’s experience has been gained from seeing buildings and people react in fire situations during his 25 years’ service in the UK Fire Service, before his retirement as a senior officer from the London Fire Brigade.
For 6 years, Tony held the position of a senior lecturer in Fire Safety Engineering at the Fire Service College (Moreton in the March), where both British and overseas fire officers receive their training.
During his time at the Fire Service college, Tony lectured on the following subject areas:
◆ Fire Law,
◆ Fire Engineering,
◆ Fire Investigation,
◆ Human Behavior,
◆ Fire Risk Assessment Techniques,
◆ Disabled Access & Means of Escape,
◆ Building Regulations (relating to fire), ◆ Access and facilities for the Fire Brigade.
In addition, Tony was also instrumental in the revision of the training given to British Fire Officers to provide a foundation for a degree course in fire by the University of Central Lancashire.
Since leaving the Fire Service in 2000, Tony has worked in the private sector on a number of various projects, including:
Smoke control extract system design for The Kirkgate Shopping Centre Bradford, The Plaza Halifax & St.
Johns Centre Liverpool.
◆ SHEV systems for numerous projects including residential blocks and offices.
Means of escape solutions for town centre redevelopments, heritage sites, museums, prisons, secure hospitals, residential accommodation, schools and academies throughout the country.
Training and emergency planning procedures for large pharmaceutical and petrochemical sites throughout the country including for: Shell, Nynas, BPL & MeirGTx.
Fire survey and risk assessments including:
◆ New Scotland Yard Headquarters Victoria for the Metropolitan Police Service.
◆ UK Forensic Science Laboratories (London & Birmingham)
◆ Listed buildings across the UK including HAC HQ & The Guildhall London. Hartlebury Castle, Nottingham
Castle & Ducal Palace.
◆ Major hotel and retail sector chains including; Asda, HMV, Waterstones, Morrison's, WH Smith, Wickes,
Primark & Virgin.
◆ Nationwide housing trust residential properties including major London Boroughs
