Barry Pomford - Consultant - Biography
Barry has over 50 years' experience within his industry sector, which includes working within the field of DSEAR and ATEX for over 15 years.
Barry started his career in 1965 as an analytical chemist and process engineer; working for the Pilkington Glass Company, where he remained for 20 years before moving on to become Chief Engineer at Morton International Speciality Chemicals. Between 1996 and 2004, Barry was engaged as a project manager, before moving to TRL Compliance in 2004, where he undertook the role of ATEX/DSEAR project engineer. Between 2004 and 2008, Barry worked as ATEX certification manager for the British Standards Institute. In 2008, Barry moved into his current role of senior risk engineer.
Barry has vast experience within work related to; fire, gas and dust explosions:
◆ As a senior risk engineer, his experience includes a series of projects related e.g. to ATEX risk assessments (of which Barry has undertaken over 100), hazardous area classifications, explosion protection documents, accident investigations, hazardous ignition analyses, explosion protection & mitigation design.
Barry’s key qualifications and skills are:
◆ Dust & explosion safety.
◆ ATEX risk assessments.
◆ ATEX inspection and test of electrical and mechanical equipment for explosive atmospheres. ◆ Explosionprotectiondesign.
◆ Hazardous area classification.
