45. Friends with knives
I stood before you presenting myself
I was innocent, showing you what I had always practiced
Allowing you to see how amazing I felt within your gaze
You called me „buddy‟
I doubt you could truly define it,
But I‟m not scared because I knew you were a lesson.
As I spoke my heart out,
Performing what I bled for and allowing you to criticize me.
I took it all in.
You were the supposed star, isn‟t it?
The apple smart kid that I was always willing to help
I‟m the sweetheart, aren‟t I?
But lately I‟ve been icy and felt the need to avoid you
And so you attacked
You stood next to me, smiled and said
“Oh, how pathetic you are, giving your all to the hissing snakes
of the wind,
We care not about you and we never intend to ask.
We shall crush you as your soul swims through the stars”.
