Introducing
the North American Teckel Club – NATC
In1998, Dr. John Jeanneney, the leading blood tracking expert in North America, gathered a group of American and Canadian fans of the FCI Teckel to discuss joining the DTK in order to breed, test and promote the FCI Teckel in North America. The group, com- prised of hunters, blood trackers and performance enthusiasts felt the di erent AKC
and CKC Dachshund standards and the disregard for the hunting qualities of the North American Dachshunds pushed them into that direction and they were excited to receive the guidance of the DTK in their endeavor. The following year was spend with seminars, meetings and setting up the logistics for the new club. During that time the DTK Group Embken took in the group of transat- lantic DTK members. In March of 2000 the NATC was formally founded with its first elections and became an independent DTK group in the Regional District Rheinland. Only a month later, the NATC was accepted as a full member of the WUT.
