Battery duration;
1 hour minimum duration (Autonomy) for emergency lighting:
Must fully recharge within 24 hours prior to full occupation
Premises must be evacuated immediately
3 hour duration for emergency lighting required for:
1
Sleeping risks (Hotels, HMO’s)

Note ;
Co-op minimum requirement for emergency lighting are stand-alone autonomous units with
a minimum 3 hour duration battery. The advantage of using 3 hour duration batteries where
1 hour is the minimum requirement, is that if the mains fails for just 1 hour, there is still 2
hours duration remaining in the batteries, allowing an immediate reoccupation of the
premises. If 1 hour duration is used, the batteries would have no remaining capacity and
would take up to 24 hours to recharge, thus delaying reoccupation of the premises.
