D3.6 Building Layout and Terminology
Generally, drive thru buildings have been
developed on long standing principles,
demonstrated by the diagram below. This basic
diagram divides the building into three distinct
parts.
Front of House (FOH); Customer facilities
Dining area space, WC’s
Back of House(BOH); Operational and crew areas
Kitchen, store, freezer, chiller,
office, crew room, staff WC’s
Corral; External storage open to fresh air
When proposing extension to the FOH, the
McDonald’s system categorises / refers to three
generic types as demonstrated in the following
diagrams:
