D3.8 Entrance Vestibule

All entrance doors should be automated. All
McOpCo restaurants should have automated
sliding doors but Franchisees may chose to
retain their automated swinging doors.

McDonald’s approved inspectors have provided
the following guidance to assist welcome zone
positioning, however, approval will be required
on a site by site basis via Building Control or the
Warrant System and must accommodate any
means of escape requirements.

England and Wales
Lobbies must provide an uninterrupted, 850mm
wide ‘slalom’ type movement between doors.
Within the lobby a clear 1500mm turning circle
must be available.

Scotland
Lobbies must be a minimum of 1.2m wide and
allow sufficient space for a person to pass
where a wheelchair with assistance may also
be present. The space usually allocated for a
‘wheelchair and assistance’ if 1600 x 750mm.

Northern Ireland
Lobbies must be a minimum of 1.2m wide and
allow sufficient space for a person to pass
where a wheelchair with assistance may also
be present. The space usually allocated for a
‘wheelchair and assistance’ if 1600 x 750mm.
An uninterrupted 850mm wide ‘slalom’ type
movement between doors should also be
maintained.

Republic Of Ireland
Lobbies must provide an uninterrupted, 850mm
wide ‘slalom’ type movement between doors.
Within the lobby a clear 1500mm turning circle
must be available. All entrance doors should
have 1000mm minimum clear width.
