Thorn In The Heart
"Do you know where she was going to?"
My-Thanh looked at him and shook her head.
"I do not know what she will do. But I know She cried a lot
after she got a letter from our father."
"Why she has cried?"
"I told you I do not know." In a little hard voice, My-Thanh
said. She looked at Nguyen and added:
"If you want to know. Read father's letter on her bed."
"No. I can not..." Nguyen looked at his sister. "Where My-
Hanh?" He asked.
"She followed mom," My-Thanh replied and looked at
Nguyen.
"Do not worry. I ready to read it." She continued.
"Oh...Mom will punish you."
"She let me read it."
"Why?"
"Because she fell on her bed and cried after she had read a
haft letter."
Nguyen ran toward his mother bedroom. He found a letter
that was dike with his mother's tears and crumbled. He took it,
ran out toward the living room, dropped on the sofa and read it:
“Cho-Noi May 02, 1953”
