OUR FIRST KISS
Original “Nụ Hôn Đầu” by TRẦN DẠ TỪ
When my lips landed on yours to kiss the first time,
The little cicadas out of their wits startled in chime.
Around was blue garden, green grass, yellow noon;
Thousands of flamboyants blossomed as a boon.
On our lips millions of roses seemed to bloom;
Sky and earth unanimously suffused with a boom.
Somewhere, everywhere clanged peals of laughter:
That day’s kiss has so existed everlasting thereafter.
Today I suddenly recollect it to compassionate her;
The old season’s cicada sound fell on my shoulder.
Yellow noon, green grass, blue garden – so stanch,
Her lips ripening like flamboyants on the old branch.
