God's Choice
According to their custom, Tekle's parents chose a bride for him before he received the Holy Ghost. Realiz ing the importance of divine direction he prayed earnestly, "Lord, if this is not Your will for me, please break it up." Shortly afterward an army officer abducted and married the girl.
His parents then found an exceptionally pretty young lady to be his wife. Again, he sought the Lord for His will. A year later a court judge, newly transferred to the district, became enamored of her beauty and married her forcibly.
When he first began preaching, an English missionary lady proposed to him. He could not find the courage to say no. He tried to think positively—she could help him in his ministry. However, two unhappy years later he had to say, "Sister, I have not had peace since our engage ment. I do not want to hurt you, but this is not God's will."
"I cannot hold you if you do not feel peace," she replied tearfully. "I release you."
