respect for the ministry and spiritual authority, no one would consider trying to change churches. This eliminated
arguments about boundaries and maintained the evangelistic thrust. Each pastor is required to report his progress in
fulfilling this plan.
Acting on reports from informers from the
Evangelical and Philadelphia churches, Mekonnen Para, administrator of Aroressa gave cruel orders to beat the saints of the Apostolic Church and rob them of their property. The enemies of the church went from farm to farm to abuse the
believers, destroy their property, and slaughter their goats for private feasts.
Hailu Fantaw and Samuel Jejerso, carrying instructions from the Regional Administrator, went to try solve the problem. Though Mekonnen realized he had acted illegally, he still gave them many hassles until the Lord helped the brothers settle the case. As more and more people left the traditional powerless churches and streamed to the Apostolic church, they are no longer victimized—their size instills fear in the hearts of ungodly leaders.
Dawit, the leader of the Hagerselam sub-section cannot read and write, but his children read to him and he
has memorized so much of the Bible and understands its
mysteries so well, no one realizes the lack. God has decorated him with administrative wisdom, divine favor, and
glory. Everyone he prays for is healed, whether blind, deaf, or diseased. One blind man healed by Dawit's prayer has
learned to read and is now a pastor with an unusual blessing on his ministry. Dawit enjoys unusual favor from
government authorities by his gift for stopping problems before they begin—with his discerning reports to them, they
can nip trouble in the bud. Churches in his area are growing. 95
