by the Spirit of God, he answered boldly, "Jesus Christ knows who will be destroyed." Confused, they left without
lifting a hand.
After the fall of the Derg, the people rose up and
dismantled the big houses, offices and stores built by forced
labor, and carried all the materials away not leaving even a stick behind. Immediately the local chairman accused Mekeimon saying, "Mekennon has destroyed these houses because he told us he knew what would be destroyed." The administrator knowing the facts refused to accept the case,
leaving his accusers in shame.
Brother Mekonnen applied for permission to build a
church on that land, but his relatives planned to kill him
claiming, "The land belonged to our great grandfather and we are his heirs." The Lord took his opponents and the land
was given to the Apostolic church of Ethiopia. In the place where communist youth once gathered in large halls to denounce Christianity, a magnificent church stands to the
glory of Jesus Christ.
God did miracles even under the communist regime.
They gave us a large tract of land in 1987 where we built a church and had much acreage for crops and pasture
