TTjen Came the Glory
opening of Ethiopia to the Gospel deserve the highest commendation.
Reading and hearing the reports from the privileged
witnesses, one feels a distinct inadequacy in the power of words to describe the indescribable. Which one of us with
our sedate, well-ordered life in the Western world can
picture twenty-eight people leaping and crawling over obstacles to lay prone sobbing and praising God in front of the platform and declare, "I am one of those raised from the dead!"
How can we understand the spiritual hunger of
people standing for sbc hours of Bible teaching? With our comfort-oriented culture, can we believe the massive crowds,
one hundred fifty thousand and upwards standing attentively for all the services? / wonder how many of those who made
any one of these three trips grasped the significance of the
sacrificial, non-covetons, truly htanble ministry of Ethiopia? The wonder works of blind eyes opened, all maimer
of diseases and infirmities healed pale in the light of the forty
thousand souls Billy Cole claimed and saw filled with the
Holy Ghost as a mighty torrent of the Spirit poured down from heaven to overflow hungry hearts. A glorious postscript
comes from examining records of those seeking baptism
later—more than sixty thousand claim God filled them with His power that day in one service. The greatest record in the
history of the church!
In the third crusade March 1994, Billy Cole said
with humility, "This time, I made no claims, we simply went
trusting our Omnipotent Savior to work His divine will in
every life." We are confident that along with the known miracles of healing and deliverance, many others will only
