Then Came the Glory
in 1960. I wandered to many different monasteries trying to find answers but no one could enlighten me. I became so
discouraged with Christianity, I decided to learn magic and
sorcery; because God loved me He did not allow me success in this effort.
Holding a book called Angel Satanael (Lucifer), I went to the River Akaki one morning to call the devils. As
I read the demons came out of the water and threw me into the deepest part. In acute danger of drowning I wanted to call on God, but I have quarrelled with him. At last I cried, "O God of my father and mother, help me!" Immediately, in His mercy. He brought me to safety.
I met the Norwegian missionaries in 1966 and they
gave me a Bible; later I met Evangelical preachers who convinced me of the evil of my books on magic and sorcery so I burned them. The Norwegian Mission sent me to Negele Borena for education. I received academic schooling, but no answer to my questions. By then I had another question. If God is trinity (three persons), which one made me?
I met Evangelist Teklemariam in the summer of 1967.1 marvelled at this independent preacher who, without
funds, preached with power and great boldness. He touched
my heart; I liked his style of preaching and I started
following him everywhere he held services. Though he could not at that time define the first religion, he declared strictly,
"You must believe in Jesus Christ, repent, and be baptized with the Holy Ghost to receive power."
His words encouraged me and I followed his example of kneeling in prayer. I based my prayer on the lady in Mark 7:25-30 who begged for crumbs of mercy; I begged for
Apostolic crumbs of knowledge.
