The Identity of Jesus Christ
King David for his part witnessed of the great ness of our only God by saying, "Therefore You are great, 0 LORD God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears" (II Samuel 7:22,
NKJV). Again in Psalm 89:6-9, he asked rhetorically, "For who in the heavens can be compared to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in rever ence by all those who are around Him. O LORD God
of hosts, who is mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. You rule the raging of the sea; waves rise. You still them" (NKJV). (See
I Chronicles 17:20; Matthew 8:23-27.) Likewise, King Solomon affirmed, "LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their
heart" (I Kings 8:23, NKJV).
Jesus, too, taught that there is only one God,
and that there is no other beside Him (Mark 12:29- 31). Who is comparable to God in heaven? No one! From John 1:1-14 we learn that our God, Jesus Christ, is the light who shines on all mankind. He is One who both created the world and came into it, but whom the world knew not. The name of our God is Jesus, and there is no other God than Him.
Jude, the brother of James, wrote in his epistle, "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who
