Moon-gwang suffered a concussion after being kicked downstairs of the
basement by Chung-sook and died soon after.
The Kims, except Chung-sook, then escaped the house as soon as they had the
chance and came back to their original house which is the semi-basement,
discovering that it is flooded due to the heavy rain. The next day, the Park
family sets the day for the youngest son of their family, Da-song, as his birthday
party. While the others are busy at the party, Ki-woo tries to check on Moon-
gwang and his husband in the basement while bringing the Scholar’s stone
given to him as a gift by his friend’s family. Moon-gwang’s husband catches Ki-
woo and smashes the stone to his head, leaving him bleeding and knocked out.
Moon-gwang’s husband then goes out to the party with a knife and stabs Ki-
jung, Ki-woo’s sister. The party then turned into mayhem as the Kims try to
fight off Moon-gwang’s husband and stop Ki-jung’s bleeding, while the Park
family hurries and asks for the car keys from Ki-taek as they need to bring Da-
song to a hospital since he passed out after witnessing the incident. Ki-taek
then stabs Mr. Park, the head/father of the Park family after being disgusted by
the foul smell coming from Moon-gwang’s husband. Ki-jung dies and Ki-taek
hides in the basement, and Ki-woo, after waking up from his coma, lives back
in their semi-basement house with his mother, Chung-sook, and lives just like
          how they lived before.
The movie directed by well-known director Bong Joon-ho garnered many
awards especially for its well-written story, acting, and cinematography, and
the key moment of where an application of mathematics was shown in the
movie was the use of morse code. Morse code is a method used in
telecommunication but also used to convey a message as a code through a
sequence of signals by light or sound. It also has two signal durations to
represent a dot or dashes that corresponds to a certain letter.
                                                                                            The first scene where Morse

                                                                                            when Geun Se (Moon-gwang’s
                                                                                            husband)
wanted to send a message to Mr.
Park by turning on and off the
lights on the stairway and said
          that Da-song must’ve understood
the message since he is a scout.
