January – March October in same year

More information on this can be found at
              cpe.org.uk/our-news/government-imposes-drug-tariff-changes-to-manage-margin

The DHSC have stated their intention to negotiate lower concessionary prices
with the knowledge that prices can be retrospectively adjusted. This means that
pharmacy contractors’ risk being out of pocket and having to incur a negative
              cash flow impact.
CPE has stated that it remains firmly opposed to this approach or any further
              reductions in the Tariff.

                            “Community Pharmacy England opposes these
untested changes. Any system that is based on an
expectation of dispensing at a loss is damaging to
community pharmacies and the patients they serve: it
is unacceptable. This is yet another example of tinkering
at the edges while inadequate pharmacy funding
arrangements leave pharmacies struggling to stay
open, and puts the safe supply of medicines at risk.”
                            Janet Morrison, Community Pharmacy
                            England Chief Executive

Pharmacy owners should continue to report price rises to CPE in the normal
way. They are also encouraged to continue writing to their MPs on this topic
using our guidance for writing to your MP and our latest briefings for politicians.
CPE's Dispensing and Supply Team will continue to gather data and submit price
concession applications in the normal way. Any prices granted by DHSC, will only
be agreed by CPE if they are supported by the reports received by the team.

It's not all about England... Here's what's happening in
              Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales

All devolved nations follow the price concessions announced by DHSC in
England, however Scotland can seek additional concessions or different prices
(often improved) to those granted in England, if needed. In Northern Ireland and
Wales, they tend to adopt the price concessions granted in England.
We are awaiting announcements from the devolved countries that we will
              publish on NumarkNet once announced.
At the time of writing this, CPE is awaiting DHSCs first set of imposed prices
for April and we will publish these as soon as they are announced.
