What is a DBS Check?
A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is a background screening
process used in England and Wales to identify any relevant criminal history,
spent or unspent, of a candidate. There are four levels of DBS checks, with the
Enhanced DBS check being the most comprehensive. It includes:
• Spent and unspent convictions
• Cautions, reprimands, and warnings
• Relevant information held by local police
• Checks against the barred lists (if applicable)
