Can you talk a little bit about the PSUK proposition?
The migration from Manufacturers Scheme business such as Teva scheme or Accord
scheme to PSUK marketing its own offer under the Active Price Management (also
known as APM) banner has been a major step forward. The headline to this is it does
what it says on the tin, as both the marketing team at PSUK and our own purchasing
team at PHOENIX work hand in hand to deliver an exceptional level of service, as well
as market leading pricing all under one banner for the dispensing doctor channel. I’m
also sure many of you would see a single delivery for the majority of your generic
business helps release time and build efficiencies. It is PSUK’s continued ambition to
design and market propositions that maintain the health and meets the requirements
of both its members and the health care agenda moving forwards.
One of the major benefits of dealing with PSUK is that via PHOENIX members can
access Keys products. This is a bespoke number of molecules that are reserved
solely for use by our most loyal customer base and provides unrivalled service levels,
With Dave Lea, Director of Trading and Generics, PHOENIX. particularly during those times of product scarcity, which you will have encountered on
many occasions in the past and which we will inevitably see again at some point in the
future. This is particularly important as while I understand members have a desire to
obtain the best generic prices, the days of product profitability being in the ascendant
are being replaced slowly but surely by that of dispensing profitability. The Golden Tote
proposition launched in recent years was designed to reflect this trend and is also
aligned to Keys. Loyalty as they say begets loyalty, and we are constantly looking as to
how we can design propositions that gives our membership absolute confidence in our
position on this.
The Mantras
As an aside to pure business, I just thought I would share a few of the mantras that
have helped me during my time in business. I hope you pick up an odd nugget from
amongst them:
Nobody has a monopoly on all the good ideas – we all contribute to the success of the
company we work for, whatever our position within it.
Businesses don’t exist without people - business relationships whether internally,
upstream or downstream are amongst the most important aspects of what we do.
You may never receive everything you feel you deserve but the more you give the more
you get – almost without exception if your first thoughts are the health and wellbeing
of the company and your colleagues, you will be amazed at the level of personal reward
you receive in due course.
Respect is earned, it’s never freely given – sort of speaks for itself!
I have to say that I am amongst the strongest advocates of PSUK… your PSUK. Both
PSUK itself and its membership are having to change with the times and I personally
love to see members increase their engagement with us not just from just a business
perspective, but also a professional one. Nobody as I said has a monopoly on all the
good ideas, so if you feel you have anything to contribute come forward, it’s a great
club to be in! Alongside this we will continue to work hard in providing solutions for your
generic requirements.
May I wish you collectively and individually all success for the future!
