Our sustainability agenda
PHOENIX Healthcare’s Sustainability Agenda outlines a comprehensive approach to
sustainable business. Our mission is to deliver health while mitigating climate change
and its impact. Key areas include:
• Environmental protection: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting
energy efficiency.
• Social responsibility: Adding social value through community engagement, flexible
working, and health initiatives.
• Economic impact: Operating efficiently to meet customer expectations and align
with NHS sustainability targets.
Tackling emissions head-on
PHOENIX has committed to becoming carbon neutral in its direct operations (Scopes
1 and 2 emissions) by 2030, aiming to reduce these emissions by 42% from 2021/22
levels. Achieving this involves:
• Enhancing energy efficiency in buildings.
• Transitioning to renewable energy sources, such as solar power.
• Embracing the future of greener transportation with a keen eye on the growth of
electric vehicles and evolving infrastructure.
For Scope 3 emissions—those from the broader value chain—we work closely with
suppliers and customers to promote sustainable practices.
What this means for PSUK members
PHOENIX’s sustainability efforts align with PSUK members’ priorities, particularly the
NHS’s “Net Zero” agenda. Members can take inspiration from PHOENIX initiatives and
play a role by:
• Reducing resource use and waste in their practices.
• Supporting greener supply chains by choosing sustainable products.
• Joining community health and environmental initiatives.
