Category M update

Category M refers to the section of the Drug Tariff that sets the reimbursement prices for over 600
commonly used generic medicines.

These prices are calculated by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) with the
reimbursement adjusted each quarter to ensure that pharmacy and dispensing doctors profit from
drug purchases remain at £900 million annually across the sector.

The latest Category M adjustments for October 2025 are summarised below:

Dapagliflozin 5mg and 10mg Tablets were also added to Category
M in September, which was outside of the usual quarterly cycle.
