Ticks are a UK-wide concern for both humans and pets. While tick bites are not
usually serious, approximately one in five ticks carry infections such as Lyme
disease, which can have serious health implications for humans and animals .

Community pharmacy can play a crucial role in reducing tick-borne diseases by
providing advice and equipping their stores with repellents and removers.

Prevention is better than cure. Advising customers on how to prevent tick bites is a
great starting point. Consider recommending a DEET-containing product such as
Numark Extra Strength Insect Repellent Spray (not available in NI) to reduce the
likelihood of bites. Combine that with the Care Plus Tick-Out Removal tool, and your
customers will be well-prepared for venturing out during tick season.
