SAVE TIME TO ALLOW

              EFFICIENT DELIVERY OF THE

              PHARMACY FIRST SERVICE

The anticipated Advanced Service in England, Pharmacy First has landed and
although this is a pivotal turning point for community pharmacy both in terms of
patient support and funding, it can also be a challenging time.
According to survey data published by the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA),
just 4% of pharmacists feel confident that community pharmacies in England can
deliver Pharmacy First services in addition to their current workload. 1
Much of this pain has been due to the time constraint on community pharmacies, with
staffing pressures, limited resources and the fear that they won’t be able to deliver the
services and therefore will not benefit from the much needed funding associated.

49% of respondents of the PDA survey also said that there is not enough staff to
“safely provide existing services” in community pharmacies, with 30% responding
that they “sometimes” have enough staff, 20% saying staffing was sufficient “most”
or “half” the time, and just 1% reporting that they “always” have sufficient staff. 2

Although hiring more staff may feel like a viable option, with the increase in national
living wage, this will have significant impact to profits, offsetting the income that you
would have generated from delivering the Pharmacy First service.
At Numark, we are here to support you with every aspect of your business, providing

more effectively. 19 hours translates to 114 Pharmacy
First consultations… generating an income of £1,600.
