The category should cover a range
of products to support common

over the counter medicines such as
heartburn and indigestion, diarrhoea,
constipation and haemorrhoids.
As well as the core gastro-intestinal
category, there are often also a
selection of more naturally derived
products to support overall gut
health that will often sit within your
vitamins, supplements and alternative
remedies category
Location
The GI category sits within your GSL
and Pmeds bays. It is useful to dual
site fast acting heartburn relief such
as antacids in prominent areas of
the pharmacy like the counter unit
or clip strips as this will drive impulse
purchases for those customers who
are in search of quick relief on the go.
When merchandising the GI category,
always lead with indigestion and
heartburn as this is the most
prominent subcategory and the
one customer’s are likely to use to
navigate the pharmacy. Always
lead with the beacon brands to help
customers find the subcategory they
are in search of quickly and efficiently.
