Elvanse Adult® capsules cannot be dispensed against a prescription for Elvanse®
capsules and vice versa because they are listed as two separate products with
                  different licensing.

If the prescription is written by brand and the product is not available, pharmacists
will be required to signpost the patient or carer back to the prescriber or to an
alternative pharmacy where the product is available.
If the prescription is written generically as Lisdexamfetamine, pharmacists are able
to supply either product but must consider the age of the patient and the licensed
indication of the product for that age range. Checking the patient’s PMR may give
an indication of previously supplied products.
As the drug is a schedule 2 CD, once a supply has been made to the patient, an
entry must be made in the Controlled Drugs register for the supply. We recommend
using individual CD register inserts to record supplies made for Elvanse® and
Elvanse Adult® capsules for each of the different strengths of each product. Using
separate registers will also help in auditing balance checks and discrepancies
especially where a product has two different product licences.

Tariff Tip: HydraMed Night Preservative free 5g versus HydraMed Night preservative free

HydraMed Night pf is listed in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in
the Appliance sections of the Tariffs under ‘Eye Ointment - Paraffin Based ‘ and is
therefore allowed on a NHS prescription*:
taken from the England & Wales September Drug Tariff Sept 2023

HydraMed Night pf Sensitive is a lanolin-free, preservative-free lubricating ointment
but as you can see from the corner of the box showing a CE mark meaning it is
classed as an appliance so it has be listed in the Tariff to be prescribed at the
time writing Sept 23. It is NOT listed in the Drug Tariff so therefore cannot be
dispensed on a NHS prescription but it would be available on a private prescription
