Over-stocks
How many products are sat on your shelves unused, expiring or classed
as a ‘just in case’ line? With multiple deliveries per day, you don’t need to
have thousands of pounds worth of stock sat on your shelves. Whilst you
must carry stock to dispense, try to cut down to a more appropriate level.
Only purchase what you need at the time and don’t be tempted to order
out of stocks elsewhere in large quantities, as you will likely be paying
an inflated price from second line wholesalers! In the long run distress
purchasing can inevitably contribute to your losses and cost you more.
Medication switches
Your PSUK account manager can support and offer guidance
on the commercial viability of making any ICB/CCG
medication switches, more often than not, these switches can
impact the profitability of your dispensary.
We also provide practices with reports during visits or teams
meetings, that clearly and easily identify any brands that
contribute to a loss of profit. Do you share those with your
clinicians and GP Partners to make them aware? Perhaps if
they were made aware of the financial consequences, they
may be open to change, where appropriate for the patient. Our
boost tables also have a handy calculator so you can clearly
see the financial impact of switching from one line to another.
Practice audits
Have you considered a practice audit with independent advisor

as a small investment could be beneficial to your future income.
Study Days
Our study days are FREE for PSUK members and take place all
across the country. In 2023 we delivered 43 educational sessions,
across 28 dates, featuring four speakers and covering eight
subjects! Over 550 delegates attended, and all were relevant
to several staff in your practice; ranging from GPs, practice
managers and dispensary teams. Upskilling your staff gives them
confidence and knowledge to run a more efficient dispensary,
it is worth the effort to attend, we often see local practices
travelling together and discussing best practice along the way.
We realise your time is precious, but time spent with your PSUK
account manager could make all the difference to your 2024
practice accounts.
