Early Discovery 2’s were not supplied with a centre
diff lock function for the LT230 transfer case although
the vehicles still have the
centre diff lock installed in the
transfer case. To get the diff
lock function to work it just
needs connecting. The
linkage is easy
to fit, cable
operated
and very
neat.
You attach the existing high/
low stud to this new lever
assembly. This kit will only work
on transfer cases with serial numbers
starting with either 41D or 42D.

When fitting a metric diff centre with metric bearings into an imperial casing you
will require the additional following parts. Diffs went from imperial to metric in
approximately 1983, take a look at one of the heads of the four large journal
end cap bolts, if ‘8.8’ is on the head it is metric, if not then it is imperial. Parts are
required for fitting to both Truetrac or Detroit lockers.
